  • do incline,across,e,ring,hang rings,get lance,wield lance,mount horse

Now, we are about to start gathering the rings on the lance we have just set up. This is not a difficult process, however it relies upon your Riding skill. The higher your Riding skill, the less your lance will move during the process.

We are about to try and spear 10 rings which have been set up. For each ring you will get 3 messages moving you closer to the ring, each time you receive a message your lance will have a chance to move (less or more depending on your Riding skill). Each message will look like the following.

You shake as your horse runs towards the target, moving your lance. Your eyes steady on the target.

You will see that message three times for each ring, roughly 15 seconds apart (giving you 45 seconds to line up for each ring).

Now we'll focus on how to hit your target. Each time you get the message you will also be told how far away your lance is from the target, with a message that looks like the following.

Your lance appears to be way off to the left and way below the ring.

When you see this you need to aim your lance, you do this in two stages, first left and right, then up and down (you could do both at the same time if you so desired).

If your lance is to the left of the target, you need to move it right. Likewise if your lance is above the target you need to move it down (You move it the opposite direction from where your lance is). How accurate your lance moves will depend on your Coordination.

    move right a lot

Each time you do this you should check to see how close you are to the ring now, you can do this by doing the following.

    look ring

This will give you a message like the following. You are currently trying to gather the rings on your lance. You can move your lance '<dir> <a little | a lot>' to aim it. Your lance appears to be way off to the left and way below the ring.. In order to position your lance correctly you can use the following commands.

do move left a lot, look ring

do move right a lot, look ring

do move left a little, look ring

do move right a little, look ring

do move up a lot, look ring

do move down a lot, look ring

do move up a little, look ring

do move down a little, look ring

As you are positioning your lance you will see the following kind of messages.

Your lance appears to be way off to the left and way below the ring.

Your lance appears to be off to the left and way below the ring.

Your lance appears to be a smidgeon to the left and way below the ring.

Your lance appears to be way below the ring.

Your lance appears to be way below the ring.

Your lance appears to be below the ring.

Your lance appears to be a smidgeon below the ring.

Your lance appears to be dead centered on the ring.

Keep positioning your lance until you are dead centered.

Unless you are given a the "smidgeon" message, you should move your lance a lot, otherwise you should move it a little. If may take several moves before that direction disappears.

Once you are dead centered you should wait until you move closer to the lance and then reposition if you need to.

After moving closer to the ring three times, if you missed the ring you will see Your lance misses the target, swinging a smidgeon above the ring! (Or a similar message depending on how far away you were).

If you hit the ring you will see Your lance runs straight and true through the center of the ring, ripping it off the branch! The ring slides down the body of the lance, lodging itself near the hilt.. You need to repeat this process 10 times.

Once you are ready to start.

    gather rings

When you have completed all 10 rings you will get one of the following messages.

You eye your empty lance with shame. Not a single ring lies upon its wooden shaft. You silently vow to practice again until you have caught every one.

You catch your breath and eye with modest pride the single ring caught upon your lance. You know you can do better than that!

You examine the 2 rings on your lance. Your riding skills are adequate; however, you are not yet a master of the horse.

You've caught 4 rings! Your name will be marked down with pride on the master's board; however, you have still not beaten Enain's record.

You've caught 7 rings! You grin confidently, proud that you have beaten Enain's record.

You've caught 9 rings out of 10! You show off your lance proudly, letting the audience see your handiwork.

You've caught all the rings! Congratulations! You bow with a flourish upon your horse, confident in the knowledge that you are an experienced rider.

So long as you caught more than 4 rings you will be able to continue the quest.

    do dismount horse,stick lance,out,w,s,offer help

If the quest is in (it has a random chance to be in) then The Rohirrim captain paces here will entrust you with his letter. If the quest is out you will see The captain shakes his head. 'Someone already took my letter. I mustn't send another messenger so soon - too much traffic on the Great Western road could bring the whole horde down upon us!'.

If the quest is in you will see The captain hands you a letter, closed with his seal. 'Take this,' he says, clasping his hands over yours. 'Take this to my lord Eomer. He will be camped to the north of the Pelennor fields, in the valley that lies there. Take this and together we shall help him defeat Sauron.' and he will give you A signed letter. Now you need to head to the Stonewain camp where Eomer is. Unfortunately the camp is only open during the night time so you will need to wait until the appropriate time. If the camp is closed, then you can try to wander around the Pelennor fields and locate him there. I will give directions to the Stonewain camp however. Head to the Western Osgiliath signpost (West of Osgiliath).

do n,8w,say Denethor,3w,give letter to Eomer

You will now receive your reward.
