Slay Denethor.
The Steward's long sword.
Find a way into Denethors secret room, wait for him to arrive there and kill him.
This quest is only available for a very short period during the night time, starting just after 9pm and ending shortly before the gates of Minas Tirith are rebuilt.
You will need An unmarked iron key in order to open the up door. This can either be obtained from The richly attired Chamberlain or A servant to the Steward. I will assume you're going to get it from the servant as he is easier to kill.

Once the servant is dead.
do get key from corpse,s,arch,3u,n,2nw,w,3s,4u,unlock up door with unmarked iron key,2u,passage
If there is already an up exit in this room, you can skip the next command. You will also need high intelligence in order to perform the first part of this next command.
do push symbol,pull ring
Once the up exit is visible.

Now you need to wait for Denethor to arrive. He is only here for a short period each night. He arrives shortly after 9pm and will be there until the gates of Minas Tirith are rebuilt. If you miss him you will have to wait until the next day. When Denethor arrives you will see The door opens, and in walks Denethor, the Steward of Minas Tirith. He strides across the room, and flips open the box. Without a second glance in your direction, he gazes deep into the stone, lost in his own desperate thoughts and the power of the Palantir.. Once you see this you can attack and kill him. Once Denethor, Lord and Steward of Minas Tirith is dead.
