Search Mirkwood for a spider lair, then find a way inside and steal a young spider for the Elven scholar.
First complete Mirkwood: Escaping Spider Lair. There are a couple of extra things you will need to do if you are intending to do this quest. After you have escaped from your cocoon and are ready for the final fight.
clear rubble
Once you have cleared the rubble.
squeeze through passage
You will now find yourself in the egg room of the lair.
smash eggs
This will bring the spider into this room where you will be attacked (you can escape to heal by either via the passage or simply by leaving southwest). When you kill A hideous giant spider in this room you will see With her dying hiss, the large spider looks at a section of the wall close to the smashed eggs. To your surprise, you notice that an egg has been placed there, well-hidden in a small niche. If not for the spider's look, you would never know it is here..

This will give you A little Mirkwood spider. Now you need to return to the quest start in Thranduils.
give spider to scholar
An elven scholar will then give you your reward and quest point.
