  • Description

    Explore a subterranean cave.

  • A recurved dwarven bow and A grey quiver containing 15 An iron-tipped arrow.

  • From Iron Hills City signpost.

    A wounded dwarf will ask you to retrieve his gem from deeper within the cave.

    The cave below is not particularly large but it is quite easy to get lost in, however there are several features which can both help, and hinder your progress.

    First off you are going to be looking for A sleeping troll, however when you find him you will only have a short period to attack the troll before he wanders off to another part of the cave. Therefore it may be wise to set a trigger to automatically attack the troll.

    There are several other inhabitants of the cave which are described below.

    A terrifying spider will attack you automatically but will not cause you any trouble otherwise.

    An albino cave snake will attack you automatically but not cause you any trouble otherwise.

    A large, hairy rat will automatically attack you but will not cause you any trouble otherwise.

    A large bat will be flying above you; you cannot directly kill the bat. If you enter a room with the bat then you will be chased out of the room and will move to another part of the cave randomly. The bat will remain in the room you originally found it in. This can quite easily get you lost. You can predict if there is a bat in one of the rooms directly connected with the room you are in as you will occasionally hear You hear the sound of flapping wings nearby..

    If you are in a room and then you see You feel a draft nearby. then that indicates that one of the rooms connected to this one contains a pit. If you enter this room then you will fall into the pit and be knocked unconscious for a short period. Once you have climbed out you will not fall into the same pit again.

    A sleeping troll will wake up when you enter the room, and is the ultimate target of the quest. You can tell if he is in a room directly connected to yours as you will see You smell the stench of rotting flesh nearby.. If you do not attack him quickly when you find him, he will wander off into another part of the cave and you will have to find him again. Whilst you are fighting him you can gain a few rounds advantage by kicking him in the knee.

    Finally there is one extra feature of the cave, each room has all of the exits labelled with a number which indicates the room which that exit leads to. You can use this information to locate yourself if you get lost due to a bat.

    The entire cave is roughly in the shape of three concentric circles with around 20 rooms in total. The rooms start at number 1 in the top left hand corner and then number top to bottom, left to right sequentially to number 20 at the bottom of the cave. In order to tell which room you are about to move into you can check the exit. For instance if you are about to head southeast.

    Once you have found the troll and have killed him.

    get gem from corpse

    Now you have to find your way back to the wounded dwarf. Once you have found your way out.

    give gem to dwarf

    He will then thank you, reward you, give you your quest point and then leave.
