Explore a long forgotten cave in Rivendell.
Aiglos, icicle of Gil-galad (Unique).
Search around the cave and end up in a secret area. Find a way to unlock the door there thenclaim your prize and try to escape with your life.
Aiglos, icicle of Gil-galad is one of the most powerful weapons in the game for moral characters and is therefore highly contested at reboot, if you are trying to get the spear then a good way of making sure you execute everything in a timely manner is to set the following mud trigger immediately after entering the main quest area.
trigger ^You regain consciousness. todo do kick key,get key
The person who gets A small metal key first at reboot is regarded as the one who has gotten the claim. They will often log on in the cave and get the key, then wait a few minutes for someone to bring them some alcohol in order to finish the quest. If you missed out on getting the key you should wait until you are in A small landing room and then you can quit and when you log in you will be in A dim cave. If you quit before landing in this room and regaining consciousness then you will die.
If someone has started the final part of the quest (the collapse) then you should not quit here in A small landing room as you will log back on dead due to the collapse.
You should also be careful if you are holding the claim as the key can be stolen from you by an enterprising thief.
Unlike many uniques the spear has a special quest (Rivendell: Repairing Aiglos) in order to reset it, therefore you should not place it in the trash or destroy it as it will be gone for the rest of the reboot.
You are going to want to take some (or have someone bring) healing to you in order to do this quest as in order to get out it will require a large amount of endurance and health. You will need to have relatively high awareness in order to do the next command.
feel behind waterfall
You should now be in A dim cave. If the quest is still in then the next command will work. You will need to have high strength in order to do the next command.
step in puddle
If the unique is in then you wills ee You thrust your foot into the deep puddle, and the floor gives way!, otherwise nothing will happen and you can leave.
You should now be falling down a chute in darkness which will take a few seconds. At the end you will be knocked unconscious and will eventually land in A small landing room. When you regain consciousness you can continue (Assuming you were first).
do kick key,get key
This will give you A small metal key.
After the next set of commands you will be unable to leave until you finish the quest, so you should make sure you have your healing with you.
insert key into door
You should see Quickly and quietly you insert the key into the hole of the door, where it locks into place with a sharp sound. and should then wait a few seconds. Eventually you will see Suddenly the door shape glows for a moment, your vision temporarily blurs, and you find yourself elsewhere. and you will be moved into A small pool and you will also start swimming.
shore
You now have a chance to fail. If you see You are unable to break free from the current and undertow! then you should wait a few seconds and then try again (If you see You haven't yet mustered the energy to try and break free of the current and swim to shore. then you tried too quickly).
Once you see With a strong and agile surge forward, you manage to break free of this magic deathtrap, and reach the shore. Gasping for breath, you must consider yourself lucky to have escaped. you are ready to continue.
You will now find yourself in A small altar room with A brittle altar.
The next commands will start the collapse and trap you in here, so be prepared.
topple altar
Again, you have a random chance to fail here. If you see You try to topple the altar, but you MISS! then you should try again (quickly, as someone may come in and try to take it before you).
Eventually you will see You topple the altar and it crumbles to pieces!.
You will complete the quest and be wielding the reward.
Unfortunately the cave will also start to collapse, within a few seconds everyone who is in any part of the quest area will end up in the same room (and will die instantly if they quit to try and avoid).
You now have to wait a few seconds until you see Finally, the collapse seems to end! and you will be in Surrounded by rubble.
You are now going to have to dig yourself out. If there are multiple people in the cave they can all help to dig in order to speed up the process.
do peruse mound,dig through rubble
You will see You start digging..
You will now start to see digging progress messages and will gradually lose both endurance and health (so you should use your healing as and when neccesary). When you use your healing you will see You stop digging. and should execute the previous command to start again.
The progress messages you see are as follows.
The task of shifting all this rubble is extremely overbearing and daunting as you wander up to the base of the rocks, dwarfed by the sheer scale of the mound.
Wise words of 'The sooner you start, the sooner you finish' echo in your mind as you cautiously budge each rock, and move it out of your way, clearing a small semi-circular area.
Moving large rocks at first, you make each movement count, weary of the knowledge that this task may be the last thing you ever attempt.
Maybe this won't be so bad after all! With each rock shifted, the feeling that there is one less rock to move lifts your ever-sinking spirits and gives you renewed enthusiasm.
Ouch! Your hands are beginning to be cut to pieces by sharp pieces of rocks and jagged edges.
You continue digging, throwing rock after rock aside.
What you would give to go back in time and pay more attention to where you were stepping... This is just one big nightmare - a nightmare that will probably prove fatal.
A twinge of pain momentarily ceases your digging efforts. When it has gone, you wearily resume the tremendous toil of digging for your very life.
Lactic acid builds up in your muscles and you find yourself slowing, grinding down to a much slower pace. Assailed by the sheer scale of the work ahead of you, you begin to lose your grip on hope.
As the candle of hope in your soul is extinguished, you begin to weep silently to yourself. Your body feels to have aged at least two decades during this toil, and your tendons scream out in protest to every single movement you make.
You give up hope, and throw one last rock aside in defiance of the cave system which is about to take your life. As you slam your back against the mound as you sit down, a thin beam of light hits one of the rocks in the room in front of you and ricochets around in a joyful frenzy. Could it be that you have finally come to the other end of the mound, and you have reached an escape?! Or is this just another passage into a room similar to this?
A small passage is finally burrowed through the base of the gigantic mound! Glorious light streams in, and you find yourself on the floor, bathing in it. How taken-for-granted light is, you realize, as you thank Someone for this chance to continue to live in the gifted lands of Arda.
Once you have seen the last message you are ready to leave.
crawl into passage
This will leave you in A dim cave.
