Find a way to cross the bog, perhaps by creating a makeshift bridge of some sort. Once across the other side fight your way into the cottage and find a treasure map. Follow the treasure map to your treasure.
If you try to cross your plank bridge too quickly, you can slip and fall into the water with a message of You try to go north on the rickety plank, but being too much in a hurry, you lose your balance and fall into the bog! you will then start to swim. The only way back to safety is to do the following.
swim shore
If you see You struggle against the bog, but cannot quite make it to the shore. you will lose some endurance and not make it to safety. Keep retrying until you see You manage to swim through the thick bog and reach the shore.. You will end up on the south side of the boulders.
If you do fall into the bog and cannot get back to rock where your plank was laid you can use any item which identifies as a plank to lay across the boulders.
You may require a light source to complete this quest.

Now you should wait 10-30 seconds (to regain your balance).

Once again you should wait 10-30 seconds.

You will now be attacked by A tall ugly orc, A short ugly orc and A fat ugly orc. If you need to heal during the fight you can get back to the rock and cross backwards by switching the plank in the reverse way you did before (picking up the plank and laying it south instead of north).

You will now spend some time reading An ancient leather-bound diary, when you see You finish reading the book and sigh sadly..

An old treasure map will then tell you roughly where to find the next place.

Now wait 10-30 seconds.
do s,get plank,lay plank south
Now wait 10-30 seconds again.
do s,jump shore,s,sw,forest
Depending on where your map told you to go the directions now change.
A few leagues from this house, past the southern plains, the forest turns to a dense and forbidding fortress; it is said that Dol Guldur lies within its embrace and that evil lurks behind every tree. There I espied a well-hidden cavern among the largest of the trees. I parted the boughs and laid my treasure within the dark and humid sanctuary of the cavern.

From Thranduil's domain I walked a few leagues north to a place where the crags of the Grey Mountains suddenly burst forth without warning, and there to the north lies a cave. A few paces to the east lies an indistinct path that appears to have once been a wide passage. From there, I walked further east intending to turn north, however, this was impossible. As I looked at the mountain I noticed a small cave in the rock, and decided this was where I would hide my treasure. There is a fissure in the rock just wide enough for animal or man to squeeze through..
You should now travel to Thranduils signpost (A bridge)

From Thranduil's domain I walked a few paces south; there rise up the Mirkwood Mountains. A few paces east, I came upon an ominously dark clearing. South of the path lies a cave and the Enchanted River lies to the east. A few short strides to the west, the broad leaves of a giant tree cover well the entrance to a small cave; this is where I have hidden my treasure. There it shall remain until someone chances upon it and pushes aside the branches to uncover the cave.
You should now travel to Thranduils signpost (A bridge)

When A large black bear curled up in peaceful sleep is dead.

You will now get your reward.
If you examine the cavity again you will get An elven belt quiver which contains 20 A copper-tipped arrow.
