Find the mining shaft where the thief has escaped to, climb down and then kill the thief to retrieve the ring.
Climbing up and down the pulley takes 15 endurance, so make sure you have enough to escape if you are fighting the thief.
You will probably need a light source for this quest.

You will now need some endurance to climb up and down.
do climb down,search shadows
You will be attacked by A sneaky thief. If you need to leave to heal you can do the following.
climb up
This will take 15 endurance so make sure you have enough. When the thief is dead.
do get ring from corpse,climb up,ne,give ring to dwarf
A battered dwarf will then reward you.
