Find some way of proving to the guard that you have an appointment, perhaps a letter from Jaffer'tani would do the trick.
There are two other ways of gaining entrance to the house, though neither award this quest point.
First, you can simply kill A tall tani guard and walk past him.
Secondly you can gain entrance through the garden (you will still have to kill someone).
do gate,w,insult guard,call guard a qata,kill guard
Once A stout Tani guard is dead.
