A strange runed staff.
Enter the old ruins and discover the secret of the trapped wizard. Uncover a demonic presence then win a battle of minds in order to defeat the presence and gain your reward.
A strange runed staff is a medium level weapon with several special features.
First, if you are a wizard, you can strike your opponent with a magic blast which will drain their health drastically and return a portion of it to you. This damage can be mitigated by having the resist magic skill, if your opponent has a high enough resist magic skill the staff will explode instead of damaging them.

If you are short of a light source you can use the staff as one.
glow staff
This will slightly degrade the condition of the staff and provide a small amount of light. You can extinguish the glow as follows.
glow out
You can only perform one of the actions at a time (glowing or striking) and you will need to wait until the staff has recharged until you can try again.
In order to determine if the staff has recharged you can do the following.
feel staff
If you see The staff feels cold and lifeless and is without charge. then the staff is still waiting to charge up.
If you see The staff feels warm and vibrates softly. then the staff is charged and you can strike/glow.
If you see The staff is glowing with a soft warm light. then the staff is lit and will continue to give off light for a while and will need to be recharged afterwards.

If you see A large piece of soot falls down onto your face...YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING...YOU'RE BLIND!!! You better find a way to wash the soot out.. The key is out, and you will be blind for roughly 5 minutes. If you see A small metal object falls down and hits you in the face. OUCH! then the key is in.

You will now be attacked by A large menacing spider. It can trap you in the room by shooting webs at you and will slowly hunt you if you try to flee. When it is dead.

At the end of the note will be the following Speaking the phrase '<different phrases>' will initiate banishment..
The <different phrases> will be one of the following, you will need to note it down.

demon wither in eru's light

When you have discovered the banishing phrase it would be wise to heal up to full endurance (and to bring some food/alcoholic healing with you).

say <different phrases
Where <different phrases> is the phrase you got from A note.
This will start a battle, the wizard will turn into A dark ANGRY evil spirit and you will be fighting with your endurance rather than your health. Each round will be determined who won based upon your intelligence and your remaining endurance, so after each round you should eat/drink a little to keep your endurance as high as possible.
It does not matter whether you are drunk or not for this battle so you can gain extra healing by being drunk.
If you lose the battle, instead of dying you will lose 1-3 intelligence points permanently which will need to be retrained.
If you win you will see But now I may rest in peace. I can't give you a monetary reward, I'm afraid, but if you go to my chamber room you will find an item that I have released which you may find useful. I must go now. My time here is at an end. Thank you once again for freeing me from torment.....
