  • Description

    Take a magnificent sword from the governor of Linhir.

  • Defeat the governor of Linhir in battle and take the sword from his corpse.

  • A magnificent engraved longsword is an extremely powerful one handed weapon. As well as being able to berserk (hit everyone you are in combat with every round) it also has extremely high statistics. On top of that it also has a special ability which can damage an enemy substantially and make them busy for a few rounds.

    Because of the difficulty of this quest it is often unclaimed for an entire reboot. If you check the governor and he is not carrying it, it could be due to the way unique weapons spawn. You should check back an hour or so later and he may have it then.

  • Before starting this quest it would be wise to have a permit for Linhir from Getting a permit for Linhir.

    This quest is extremely difficult and would normally require several well geared people. Once you have attacked The governor of Linhir you will be unable to leave the room until either you or the governor dies. This means that you should bring good equipment and any healing you feel you will need with you.

    When you attack him he will summon three guards to defend him (names chosen from A small, hairy guard, A short guard and An ugly female guard). These guards are extremely tough (as is the governor himself). Once all of the guards and the governor are dead you can simply take the sword from his corpse.

    The normal way of defeating the governor is to have a full party with several wizards and/or necromancers.

    Lets assume you have a party made up of 2 warriors (or any other class, hereafter referred to as the protectors) and 3 necromancers/wizards (hereafter referred to as casters). The two warriors should protect everyone (including each other). Each of the casters should be shielded by someone (they could in theory shield each other in rotation Caster 1 shields Caster 2, Caster 2 shields Caster 3 and Caster 3 shields Caster 1).

    This will mean that the protectors are taking all of the damage from the guards, and the governor (who will be attacking everyone with his berserking sword) will be splitting the damage given to the casters) this should minimise any spellbreaking for the casters.

    The casters should also have enough endurance (or enchanted flowers) to cast lightning/hurricane several times.

    Start the fight as follows. Each of the casters should start casting lightning/hurricane at exactly the same time. As soon as the spell completes they should start casting it again. It will take 2-3 casts of lightning for each caster in order to bring the fight to a finish.

    There is however at least one class who can solo the governor with good enough equipment and healing, the Necromancer.

    Necromancers have the ability to stay out of combat with protecting monsters by continually casting ice spike and/or leech. They will need enough healing to kill a maximum level monster without leaving and enough armour to not be broken much.

    They will need a sacrificial pawn to start the fight for them (to bring the guards out). Once the pawn has attacked the governor they can quit until the governor is dead and they do not need any equipment.

    Once the govenor is with his guards the Necromancer can simply chain cast (whilst making sure his health and endurance is enough) until the governor is dead. Leech should be the preferred spell to use, however if that is on cooldown then ice spike should be cast instead. You should not land a single blow (by continually casting) on any of the monsters or you will end up in combat with all of them. If this is completed successfully then you will remain in combat with only the governor until he dies and can then leave normally.

    As leech will not kill a monster outright, once you have the governor extremely low Governor is near death. you should focus on mainly casting ice spike instead. If you are getting low on endurance (and are running out of healing) ice spike is also a lower cost spell to leech and so can be used instead.

    If you wanted to make the fight even easier you could find some way to disarm the governor (perhaps using The 'swordbreaker' dagger from Esgaroth: Defeating Assassins and having your sacrificial pawn backstab the governor hoping to disarm him).

        The governor of Linhir has a very worried look on his face.  His
    skin is pale and his eyes are sunken, perhaps due to the stress of
    his job.  Dark rings around his eyes hint at a lack of sleep.  This
    man is charged with the daunting task of keeping peace in the city
    during this time of unrest.  Though politically savvy and wise, he
    seems to be at his wits' end in these conditions.  Perhaps you can
    learn more about the state of Linhir by asking the governor about the
    ongoing war.
